About Melissa

Her obituary:

Melissa was born in St. Petersburg, Florida where she fell in love with the ocean and became a mermaid in her heart.

Her family was blended with children from her mother's previous marriage, Paul, Ken, and Marcy, and her brothers Daniel and David.

She spent her young adult life in Minnesota and Texas with her friend Jill. In October 2002, she married Daniel. Much of her life included devotion and service to others. She helped her nephew fight Leukemia. She took in her mother and helped her through her last years.

Melissa also directed her passion and energy into taking care of herself and her husband through the pandemic. She was focused on growing and learning, and on overcoming many of the difficulties from her early life.

Melissa was always a memory keeper. Her scrapbooks document the life she had with Daniel and will always be deeply treasured.

It is impossible to describe the sweetness, the strength, the goodness and beauty of this woman. Those who are close to her carry the gift of knowing what love can be at its best.

She was taken too soon, but she would not want us to dwell on the pain of losing her. Instead, I know she would want you to remember the love that she shared, to plant it into your own heart so that each day you will be stronger, kinder, more understanding, and fiercer to find your peace in a difficult world.

Let her be our guide, and in those moments when we think of her, we will be renewed, and we will know that from her example we can take another step closer to our best selves.

From her blog, LaLa Creates (LaLa Creates):

I am a wife, a writer and memory-keeper, a traveler and lifelong student of creativity. I love connecting with crafty people, sharing ideas, telling stories, trying new things and making stuff. Welcome to my blog, where I share my scrapbook pages, cards, mini-books, and whatever else strikes my fancy.
